BWPS Scores Second Place Club Finish
|
|
Boston West Photographic Society fielded a club entry in the recent Greater Lynn International Salon and we finished in 2nd place, just two points behind Stony Brook Camera Club. The big news is that our very own Debbie Guyer was the highest scoring New England entrant with 51 points from her four slides. There were only five New England makers who scored 50 points and President Ed McGuirk was one of them. Congratulations Debbie and Ed! But the good news doesn't end there. Debbie won the Michael Videtta Memorial Medal for being the highest aggregate NE entrant, but she also won the Yankee Gold Medal for her slide of a wolf. And Jim Brady won the Chairman's Choice Gold Medal for his Eyes of Mystery slide. Congratulations, Debbie and Jim! |
The way the clubs stacked up: Stony Brook finished 1st with 330 points, followed closely by BWPS with 328. Merrimack Valley CC was right behind with 327, and Medium Diaclub (of Belgium) was 4th with 326. So you can see what a close race it was. The Photographic Society of RI was 5th with 323 points, followed by Gateway CC 6th with 317. Nearby club Assabet Valley CC tied for 9th with 303 points. There were also clubs from NJ, NH, Maine, Austria, India, and Germany.

We had 10 members enter the salon, the top 7 scores of which were used to determine the club's total. Those seven scores ranged from 51 to 43. Debbie Guyer and Ed McGuirk both had all four of their slides accepted. Ian Dicker, Frank Forward, and Michael Roman each had three acceptances. Jim Brady and Jim Blanchard each had two, and Mary McCarthy had one acceptance.
Way to go, team BWPS!
You can see all of the accepted slides at the Yankee Photographic Society on Saturday, April 1, 2006. Read all the details on this page.
