Pictorial Electronic Competition

Fall 2009

The Fall competition was held on November 18, 2009, hosted by the Boston West Photographic Society. With 14 clubs competing in Class A, Boston West Photographic Society came in second place with 83 points, two points behind Greater Lynn Photographic Association. Merrimack Valley finished a close third with 82 points..

Congratulations to Chris Wraight on his First Place image Late Throw to Second. Chris's image received 24 points and was the highest scoring image of the night. Congratulations also to Ed McGuirk for earning an Honorable Mention for his 21 point image Kestral.

Winter 2010

The Winter competition was held on February 8, 2010, hosted by the Westfield Camera Club. 15 clubs competed in Pictorial Class A. Unfortunately Boston West Photographic Society only managed a three-way tie for Seventh Place with 81 points. We tied with Gateway Camera Club and Photographic Society of Rhode Island. See below for the top scoring clubs.

Congratulations to Mike Goodman for his Honorable Mention image Fireworks Over Boston. Mike 's image received 22 points. The First and Second Place images received 25 and 24 points, respectively and there were three second place images.
After this competition, Boston West is still in second place overall with 164 points, five point out of first place. We are tied with Bridgeport and Charter Oak.

Spring 2010

The Spring competition was held on April 6, 2010, hosted by the Stony Brook Camera Club. Thirty-six clubs participated in the Pictorial Section, 14 clubs in Class A, which is the class we compete in. Boston West Photographic Society finished with a commanding First Place with 99 points. Second Place went to Greater Lynn Photographic Society with 96 points. Gateway and New Haven shared Third Place with 94 points each.

Congratulations to Chris Wraight for his First Place image Pajama Skier. Chris 's image was the only one to receive 27 points that night. Congratulations to Ron Todd also for his Second Place image Snocross 117 which received 26 points. Ron shared Second Place with two other images in Class A. And congratulations to Ed McGuirk for his 24 point Honorable Mention Snowy Owl.

This wraps up the competition year and despite our strong finish we weren’t able to make up enough ground to catch Greater Lynn Photographic Association which finished in First Place for the year with 265 points. Boston West took Second Place overall with 263 points, Gateway CC and New Haven CC tied with for Third with 256 points.

To everyone who allowed us to use your images this year we sincerely thank you for your help representing our club. We did a great job thanks to you, and we look forward to doing even better next year!
