Nature Electronic Competition

Fall 2009

The Fall competition was held on November 18, 2009, hosted by Boston West Photographic Society. The competition was directed by Harrison Ball assisted by Michael Roman, Steve Iadarola, and Dana Lane. Thirty-nine clubs participated in the Pictorial section (14 from Class A and 25 from Class B) and thirty-
four clubs participated in the Nature section (12 from Class A and 22 from Class B). The judges for the competition were Dan Charbonnet, Sarah Musumeci, and Ian Dicker. Dan Charbonnet belongs to Stony Brook Camera Club as well as Greater Lynn. Ian Dicker belongs to Boston West Photographic Society. Sarah Musumeci is a member of the Merrimack Valley Camera Club.

Congratulations to Second Place winners Ed McGuirk and Jim Brady for their 24 point images Mountain Lion Walking and Barred Owl. There were six images that shared Second Place in Class A. The 1st place image received 25 points in this class of the competition although Class B had one 26 point image and three 25 point images (from Greater Lynn and Merrimack Valley, which somehow ended up in Class B this year)

Winter 2010

The Winter competition was held on February 8, 2010, hosted by the Westfield Camera Club. 12 clubs competed in Nature Class A and Boston West Photographic Society finished in Second Place with 98 points. Cape Cod Viewfinders finished in First just one point ahead of us. We edged into Second Place with this competition.

Congratulations to Mike Goodman for his First Place image Mt. Cook Sunrise! There was a three-way tie for first.

Spring 2010

The Spring competition was held on April 6, 2010, hosted by the Stony Brook Camera Club. Thirty-two clubs participated in the Nature Section, 12 clubs in Class A, which is the class we compete in. Boston West Photographic Society finished in a tie with Cape Cod Viewfinders for Fourth Place with 93 points. First Place went to Nashoba Valley with 97 points and there was a two-way tie for Second Place between Gateway CC and New Haven CC with 94 points each.

Congratulations to Debbie Guyer for her 24 point Honorable Mention Winter Bobcat Stare.

This was the final competition of the year and, as in Pictorial this year, we only missed First Place by two points. First Place went to Cape Cod Viewfinders with 283 points. Boston West took Second Place with 281 points, and Gateway took Third with 278 points.

To everyone who allowed us to use your images this year we sincerely thank you for your help representing our club. We did a great job thanks to you, and we look forward to doing even better next year!
